Yamaha xlt 1200 not starting

I recently bought a 2002 yamaha 1200 xlt. Started fine at the dock, ran good, took it out, ran fine for awhile. Made a sharp turn and then it shut off. No luck restarting first couple of attempts, no display on on guages. Then it starts up, run for a few seconds and cuts off again. get towed back to dock. Replace battery no change, just clicking of starter relay. Replace relay, starts for few seconds and cuts off again. Now tries to turn over but not enough to crank. Sounds like a dead battery but it's not.
