i have a 1988 waverunner 500. it doesnt appear to have a vent on the gas tank anywhere, is there one? or is there one somwhere im not seeing and its pluged? because if i leave the ski out in the sun and it heats up inside the tank build presure and when you take off the gas cap it lets it all out, the previous owner left the tank full and it all spayed out through the carbs from the pressure and into the bottom of the ski, and i was the lucky one to pump it out, if there isnt one, where is the best place to cut one in?

thanks

Re: yamaha waverunner gas tank

I have a 96 waverunner and it only has a vent that lets air in. It has a check valve in the line so it only lets air in and does not let it out. I have no problems. If I lossen the gas cap in the sun, air will come out. Maybe you can research the purpose of the check valve, if its not needed you could take it out and eliminate your problem.

there is no vent at all, even to let air in, the only two hole in the whole tank are the two pick ups, the on and reserve, is there a vent in these lines somwhere?. there is no vent with a check.
