Actually theire pretty bullet proof skis. lots of jet ski rental places love them.
they arent the fastest out there but unless its been beaten to death theire pretty reliable skis. they tend to have a decent ride and the hulls are pretty stable. they wont hook weird and throw you liek some of the skis i owned/raced/ridden.
if the price is right and it runs good and looks decent id get one if you jsut wanna be on the water. and IMO I rather be on the water on a slow ski than on land watching

Only thing is youre buying a almost 20 year old ski. so price it accordingly. if the guy wants 3000$ for it walk away you can get newer skis for that price. if you go to SBTontheweb.com go to their tech section. I wrote up a article ther eon what to look for when you buy a used jet ski. give you a good idea on what to look for.

Re: yamaha wave runner

I would give $400 max for this ski. The motor is basically an outboard powerhead laid on it's side. It is NOT a Yamaha waverunner motor. (As we know it) I would pass on this ski and look for something a bit newer, like a 91 or later VXR or Waverunner 3. You can find them pretty cheap and the engine is a much better design, basically bulletproof. Good luck.
