How do the 2cyl-4 Stroke 25hp Yamaha (136lb)
and the 3cyl-4 stroke 25hp Nissan/Tohatsu(151lb)
compare for a Sea Nymph 14R...Or would the 18hp
Nissan/Tohatsu(115lb) be enough motor? Service is available for both makes. We usually have 500# of people plus typical fresh water tackle
on board.

I believe the 3-cyl. may be a bit smoother. It may also have a displacement advantage. The Nissan/Tohatsu's are also probably less expensive.

As long as service is available, I wouldn't have a problem with Nissan/ Tohatsu.

I would stick with a 25.

I agree with DJohns.

If you have doubts, either Yamaha or Tohatsu are excellent engines.

My choice, like DJohns, would be the Tohatsu triple.

Good luck. :)

The deciding factor should be parts availability. Yamahas you can get parts anywhere, Tohatsu dealers are few and far between. Both are good engines but think about down the road, which dealer may be there and which may not when you need the parts.
