1995 Yamaha 2 stroke 90 hp. Trim and tilt will not lift the motor. The trim motor is working in both directions but will not lift the motor. I have tried everything I can think of. I tried squeezing the fluid in under preasure while someone else works the switch and got nothing, I tried turning out the bypass screw and lifting the motor manualy and nothing, with the motor up I disconected the cylender from the motor and it goes up and down like it should but as soon as I reconect it and take the lock off the motor it drops all the way down and wont move on its own power. It is full of oil but it had none when I got it. I suspect there is an air pocket somewere but I cant get it out. Any help would be apreciated.

Re: Yamaha trim/tilt?

WOW talk about fealing like a fool. My brother in law has a 150 yamaha and the bypass valve is on the left of his motor. Ive never paid any attention to it but have seen him open it. I assumed the screw under the trim motor was the bypass valve but it turns out mine is on the other side of the motor. turn the screw and the motor goes up and down just fine. Feal free to lagh and make the funny coments at will

At least it did not take you days or weeks to figure it out, so you are good to go.

But if it did not have fluid in it when you got it then it must have all leaked out, so you will have to find and repair
