Yamaha trim tilt

I have a OX66 saltwater series and the trim on one of the motors won't stop. I've disconnected the trim switch from the throttle controls, but that doesn't stop it. Any ideas on what's causing the motor to trip up by itself and how to fix it?

Re: Yamaha trim tilt

The tilt/trim pan switch on the outboard itself may be stuck/shorted or the tilt/trim relay may be malfunctioning.

Agent 37,

Thanks, the tilt/trim switch on the lower drive works fine, sounds like it must be a relay switch, do you know where that switch is located on the motor (250HP year 2000)?

Re: Yamaha trim tilt

its under the plastic electronics panal on the stbd side.
unplug the trim relay control connector at the relay and retest.
either a switch is shorted or the relay contacts got welded together,if they are welded carefully check for low voltage at the relay. thats what welds them.
