I have a 2000 Yamaha GP1200 R. I ride in fresh water and just had it serviced. I have a temperature exhaust warning light that keeps going off. They suggested that I try higher octane fuel, but I don't think that is the problem- gave it a shot, didn't work. I also flushed the intake to make sure nothing was caught, causing it to overheat. I don't want to strip my piston but I'm wondering if something's wrong with the sensor. Has anyone had this problem or any idea what the source maybe and what to do? It's summer and I'm ready to make some wake but can't :(

I was told that those sensors fail quite often, feel the exhaust if it isn't real hot it's probably the sensor is defective as you suspect.also if it has a converter , that could be going bad and causing a lot of back preasure in the exhaust

----------------------------------------------------

Had the same problem........Cat converter went. It is around $900 to replace it, but my dealer was able to repair it for 245.00. Runs even better now. He told me this is what racers do to get more power.

yes those do get clogged up and cause back preasure I know what I would do if it is bad but I can't say, I bet if you look in your converter it is hollow after it was FIXED, lol.
