I've got a 2007 F60, with 703 controls, originally with no instruments. I purchased a used Yamaha pro-series tach (6Y5-83540-14-00), and have wired it to the 703 per the schematic (black-black, green-green, yellow-yellow, but am not seeing any response on the tach. The oil and temp warning lights appear to work properly, wired via separate 2-wire harness that came with the gauge that connects back at the powerhead. The backlighting works as well fwiw. I'd like to test the green wire coming from controls to see if an appropriate signal is present to assist in trouble-shooting. Does anyone know if this is a variable voltage signal proportional to rpm? Or a pulsed 12v or 5v signal? Thanks in advance!

It is just a variable AC frequency. Do you have a frequency setting on your multimeter?

You should be able to detect a small AC voltage as well.

OK, thanks. I'll give it a go next time she's running.
