Looking for an engine coupler for a Yamaha 5.7L, YEMS sterndrive. Have already tried Merc Bravo (too big) Merc V8 triangular drive (splines too short). Any other choices besides changing entire drive unit? I realize Yamaha stopped making this item, but the drive unit is still very good and I don"t want to change at this time if I can help it.

Get the Serria kit with the traingle couplier and shaft for Mercruiser. I've used them several times and not had a problem.

Re: Yamaha sterndrive engine coupler.

I have that setup. The Yamaha shaft and Merc shaft are within 3/16" of each other with the Yamaha shaft being the longer of the two. The drive splines of the Yamaha coupler are set back toward the transom where the Merc is set toward the engine. The difference must be the depth of the engine bellhousing? The measurements I took between the two couplers showed only 1 3/16" engagement of the Merc coupler splines by the shaft. Is this enough? If not, do you know of any dealers in the Florida area that might still have new/old stock?

Capt. Ken,

Thank you for your reply, but did you see my problem with the length of the engagement of the shaft?
