Yamaha stern drive trim / tilt leak

Last year I replaced my trim / tilt pump because my last one would occasionally freeze up.

I purchased a used trim pump, since I'm not sure new ones even exist, and it sounded much healthier while operating and worked great for the 1 - 2 times we took the boat out last season.

This season, I get a call from boat storage where we store our boat that the drive was found in the full down position. I get to storage and it turns out all the fluid has leaked from the pump. I refilled the pump and turns out fluid is leaking from the line which goes into the pump on the "up" side.

It is leaking around where the line and the nut meet, NOT where the nut and the pump meet.

Trying to figure out if this would mean it is a line issue or if that could still mean it is a pump issue.

Also, I have tightened that nut pretty tight but am hesitant to try to tighten it more and mess up the pump threads and / or the line's nut threads.

Any suggestions? My current thoughts are:
1 - Take the line off and see if there is debris
2 - Try to tighten it more
3 - Use some sort of sealant?
4 - Determine which of the 2 things is broken and replace just that item (hydraulic line vs pump)

Ayuh,.... It appears to be the standard inverted flare fitting, like Merc's, or brake lines,.....
It should require no sealant of any sort,.....
I'd take it apart, 'n look for damage,....

Thanks Bondo!

When you say look for damage, are you thinking on the line itself or within the pumps receiving end?

I'm not sure what I'd be looking for.

Would that be repairable? This is one (of the few) areas of this boat I have never become familiar with.

For anyone who finds this thread in the future:

The issue was simply needing to remove the lines from the pump, ensure everything was clean and while reinstalling the lines, I made sure to take the pressure off of the nut by positioning the line in some sort of neutral relative position so it wasn't hanging up on the nut. After reinstalling, no more leaks.
