1994 Yamaha 225 stalls at idle after motor warms up,it's the same problem post on site in 2013 by Viking 63 need help thx crab boat

My 1999 C90 Yamaha with carbs started that cutting off/stalling trick, so I removed each idle mixture screw( recalling the screw turns out from lightly seated), sprayed carb cleaner in each threaded hole, sprayed with air hose, replaced the idle screws and it fixed the problem....so I guess there was dirt/debris in there?.... Easy fix for me!...

Thanks Robert will try that,my motors have six carbs on each.Looks like it would be more than I can handle taking the carbs off to clean,since the motors run great at any RPM in gear.

I'm the same way...a bit intimidated about removing/ cleaning carbs on my own...so the trick with the idle jets seemed to fix it right up....saved a lot of time and $$$$.

Different setup on the 225. You are stalling when the auto enrichment is shutting off. Try backing the idle mixture screws out 1/2 to one turn and see if that helps. Or bring the idle screw up a bit. Do not remove those carbs if you don't know how to set the linkage back up.

Thanks Capt Ken will also give that a try,the boat is new to me about a year.I boat in some pretty rough water outside the golden gate,about 40 to 60 miles out.The motors are 1994 just under 1000 hours,put around 80 hours in 7 months.Had Yamaha service tech to check them out,100 psi in all cylinders they hit 5500 rpm 42knots 272 sailfish GW .The only trouble was remote oil tank filter,now they run great only stall out of gear at idle after they been ran for awhile mainly one motor sometime both.Been looking at used E-TEC any thoughts.
