I have a new Aquasport 28 ft w/ twin 225 four stokes. The Yamaha trottles have been very hard to shift into gear and then throttle up. In reading the manuel I found an adjustment screw that helped some. Yesterday, a friend picked up his new boat (2003 Century 26 Open w/ 200 4 st) and while on his boat I noticed the shifter to be smooth as silk and very easy to operate. Any suggestions??? Does Century use a better grade shifter? Thanks! John

Re: Yamaha Shifter

Any resistance to smooth operating of controls is usually due to the cables. I suggest you check that the cables follow an unobstructed path with no sharp twists or turns. Relocating them may be a cheap fix. It could also be that your friends boat has higher quality cables.
