I have a curious issue that I'm not even sure is an issue. This is my first motor.
My Yamaha Pro V cold starts fine. I do the standard start procedure, sometimes it needs two cranks. When the engine is warm, when I turn it off, wait a little bit, maybe a minute, then turn the key, it starts right back up.
When I wait an extended period time, maybe I fish for a little while, I don't know, 10-15 minutes? I have to use the throttle to start, then I back it back down. After that it idles fine. What really bothers me is after about an hour or so. It's almost I have to do the cold start procedure again. I have to use the choke to varying degrees.
I don't think it's the fuel pump, because the boat runs fine both idle and WOT. Plus the bulb holds pressure fine. My mechanic told me to change the spark plugs which I will, but I don't understand how that would help either? Would a leaky carb be the culprit? Should I even worry about it?
