I have been doing some research in purchasing early 2000 ox66 200's to replace my aging/thirsty '95 175 Johnsons.
Looking for twin set-ups ultimately. I'm finding that the general consensus is that these are GREAT motors and the only time they seem to come up for sale is when one has "1 down cylinder".

I understand that these motors are EFI and the gas/oil is mixed prior to injection.........my question is, is there a trend in these motors having 1 cylinder go bad? If it was lack of lubrication I would expect all 6 to get damaged. If I was to purchase a pair w/ one motor having 1 down cylinder I assume it would be best to replace the power head........but would need to find out what caused the original failure.......hence my question re: the lubrication. Would the fuel delivery still be suspect? Do these motors have individual throttle bodies?

I don't mind turning a wrench. Just trying to get educated before I am forced into a purchase or a GREAT deal falls into my lap!

From what I understand these motors are bullet-proof and a bit less finicky than the HPDI's.......

There is no trend. Random luck of the draw.

Think about it. Two or more cylinders failing at the exact same time is a very remote possibility. One failing is not. One fails. Motor runs poorly. It gets fixed.

Lack of lubrication resulting in a Yam failing is very low.

No throttle bodies.

The 2000 OX 66 200 is an multipoint (6) injected motor.

Clog the injector and there goes that cylinder

Actually, there are six throttle bodies. Integrated within a throttle body assembly.

There's lots of non-issue OX66's that come up for sale too, they just don't last long, that's for sure. The 225s & 250s in the mid-00's had corrosion issues, at least in the 4-strokes, so it's something to have in the back of your mind even on the 200s 2-strokers, if they're saltwater engines. Lots and lots of info out there.
