I spent the weekend on the water running my 2004 Yamaha OX66 200hp motor with no issues. Yesterday I went for a cruise up the river for about a half hour with zero issues. Came back and tied her up and when I went to leave about 2 hours later it wouldn't start. It turned over no problem, and sounded a couple of times like it wanted to fire but wouldn't. I was very limited on what I could do as I was away from my tools. Drained the fuel separator on the engine and re-primed, still no joy. Finally gave up and had my buddy start towing me home. About 10 minutes into the tow I tried it and it fired. Ran for about 2 minutes and stopped. Waited 10 more minutes and it fired and I unhooked the line and hauled a$$ home. Boat ran fine all the way to the ramp. Turned it off, fired right back up. This morning I flushed the motor and then hooked up the hose and it fired right away. I did notice the primer bulb wasn't very hard and as I primed the bulb, I noticed the fuel separator filling with fuel. When I stopped priming it, the fuel would go about 1/4-1/3 the way down the clear bowl and stay at that level. Is this normal? Or maybe a fuel pump issue? My thinking is that I had some garbage or something in the system and it cleared it self out. Anyone have an info or help on this? I went ahead and ordered a VST filter and will replace that as soon as it comes in. Thanks in advance. PS, this motor has been pretty much flawless since I bought it. I had the O2 sensor replaced and the engine de-carbed last fall.
