Yamaha Outdrive Swap?

Hi All,

I know Capt. Ken was the expert on all things Yamaha sterndrive related, but was wondering if anyone knew how difficult a Yamaha drive to Mercruiser Alpha (gen 2) swap would be? I've been looking around and can't find anything specific about the transom cutout size, etc.

I know SEI makes a conversion kit for the Cobras, but what would be involved with swapping everything from a full donor boat to the receiver?

Howdy,


I seem to remember that one of the reasons that Yamaha (was) stopped selling their products in the US was because they were so similar to Mercury.

I would be willing to bet that the transom cutout is the same and you could swap everything.

Ayuh,... The Hull won't be a problem,....
Marrying a Yamaha dressed motor to the Merc transom assembley might be though...
