I recently replaced a 4.3 in my pontoon. now i can't get the outdrive back on. the splines line up in the back of the motor and go about 3/4 of the way in and starts binding. it acts like the shaft is hitting the back of the motor but there is still plenty of room. i can tilt the unit up and pull it almost all the way in but i'm afraid it will break something. i even loosened the motor mounts up and wiggled the motor back and forth thinking the motor was out of alignment. any suggestions

Ayuh,...

You need an Alignment Bar to adjust the motor mounts, so the alignment is Perfect....

Ditto, if the allignment's not PERFECT, things really suck. It took us about an 2 hours of adjusting the mounts to get everything JUST perfect, after having to replace an engine and a gimbal bearing at the same time. Just because the drive WILL go on, doesn't mean it should. There's not much difference between where it should be, and where it shouldn't be, but it will make a WORLD of difference, if it's not where it should be...
