Yamaha outboard does not turn off

My ignition switch does not turn off my Yamaha 70, 1999. My boat is Lund , Sports Adventure-1999. The switch turns on fuel gauge and outboard. When I switch to off the fuel gauge turns off, but the outboard does not. I have to disconnect the fuel line and let it run out of gas. I could use your help and if I need to replace the switch, then where is a good place to get it? Thanks

Is this a new development? What happens when you pull off the kill switch lanyard?

I wire harness under the console had came apart. My boat is a 1999 Lund and after all these years the wiring harness worked apart. Who would of thoughts?

Yes. There must of been at one point enough contact within the harness to start, but not stop the engine. Later, neither gas gauge or starting worked. Thanks for the interest. I have been out a few times and no problems. The dealer put a tie around the harness to prevent it from happening again. They had never came across something like this before.
