Need to buy a 2 stroke 30 HP long shaft tiller steer motor to power a medium loaded 4.70 mtr Rib, which are the pros and cons of both mentioned brands ? Share your experience. The prop will be maximized after the initial break in period ends...

Personally I wouldn't buy either one. Not because either is a bad motor, but because there are no servicing dealers within a reasonable driving distance.

OTOH, there are 15 Mercury dealers in town.

Suzuki and Yamaha have both been in the 2 stroke business for decades. Rumor has it that Yamaha followed the OMC design when entering the market...forget the year. Don't know the Suzuki background. Yamaha seems to be a wider market but I have heard some "gee I want to buy one" desirable things about Suzuki. I think I would let creature comforts be the deciding factor of an available supplier, local or online. Mercury did have Yamaha build smaller outboards for them...along with Tohatsu...another contender that seems desirable.....all to the best of my recollection.

Doubt you will find either of these new in a 2 stroke as most now are 4 stroke. But parts/dealer issues are #1 thing to investigate. In my area Tohatsu is out as no servicing dealers, but 4 selling dealers that only sell 30hp and below. Plenty of Yamaha and a few Suzuki dealers that sell and service. I would get a Yammy.

Thanks all, have both dealers very close. Yam is out of stock, as summer is around the corner seems Suzy will be favored with a simple tiller 30L or 40L HP motor.

Merc has the 30L HP which it's a rebadged 30 HP Tohatsu, for my particular taste deslike the timing advance/carb throttle system which is not that precise to throttle compared to their younger 18 and much less HP motors.
