yamaha or mercury?????

im about to buy a new outboard but cant decide between a yamaha 115 or mercury 115 two stroke.I hope to keep the motor long term so reliability and repair costs are my main concerns.please give me your thoughts

From what I understand, Yammies are the way to go. Not being an owner of one, its all hear-say on my part, but Ive never heard a bad word about them, always good.

The only bad thing about Yamaha is the cost of replacement parts. But you shouldn't have to worry about that for a few years with either engine...

I run turni fihing I see guys blowing up all kinds of motors including merc's and yammies but I think the yammi is the most reliable

Hi, tarjla. Make that 4 to 0. Mercs are good engines. From what I have seen and heard Yamaha is the class of the field in mid to upper range 2 strokes. There are plenty of dealers everywhere and parts are available but expensive.<br /><br />Good luck.<br />JB
