Looking at an Alumacraft Pro 175 (17.5 ft aluminum bass boat). It is displayed on the dealer floor with a yamaha 90 2 stroke. I have heard Alumacraft is not owned by any outboard company so i could choose to have a Mercury 90 2stroke rigged on it. Any opinions on which motor is better, or easier or less expensive to maintain? I live very close to many Mercury and Yamaha service/dealers so service for either is not a problem. Not interested in the e-tecs cause there is not a certified mechanic close to where i live. I have heard that the 90hp 2stroke yamaha motor has the smallest displacement of this size motor, but i figure 90hp is 90hp, or are they less powerful than other 90hp outboards?
