try pullin it out when it sounds and lift it up to make it turn off, if you can do it manually, it might have leaked and doesnt float anymore

Yes, my 90 Yamaha oil gage blinks that the level is getting low, whether or not the engine mounted reservoir is full(there is no external tank here). I wanted to take the sender out of the tank and see if I could troubleshoot it. Does that use an ordinary nylon wire tie when you replace it, and is it easy to take it out and put it back in without causing a leak?

have you had the sensor out? if the filter housing is not put back on corectly funny things will happen.if the screen is on correctly and clean then it may be sensor time.if you do take it out make sure you retrieve and replace the seal at the bottom of the oil screen.

good luck and keep us posted
