Yamaha no start issue

Im helping a freind get his Yamaha jet ski running after sitting for two years on the trailer. (I do not recall specific model or year of unit, kinda on the small side). It had a full tank of gas which was like varnish so we drained it, blew out the fuel lines with air, refilled it with 93 octane and tried to start it. It did not want to start so we gave it a little gas in the carbs and it started and idled for about a minute, during that time he turned on the water hose and it died when i tried to rev it up. It started back up itself then ran good and reved up for about 30 seconds then died again. When it reved up it smoked really bad blue smoke (oil) until it died. During our efforts to restart it we left the water running by accident when the engine was off, what could this have done? I pulled the plugs and noticed they were wet so i dried them off and i put commpressed air in the cylinder and it made water come out of the impeller area?? Whatever we do now it will not even attempt to start unless we put fuel in the carbs, then it will run for about thirty seconds and die. How do i check a fuel pump on this thing, and where would it be. Its strange how it ran fine for a minute then now it wont start. It seems like a fuel supply issue but what could it be?? I do have spark and i must have compression as it will fire when we give it gas in the carbs. HELP!!

Re: Yamaha no start issue

OK, today after letting it sit for a day and a night, i tried to crank it and nothing. Then it started to fire and eventually started and idled real rough with the choke out. If we choked it it would die. Eventually we got it to idle with the choke in and it will rev up but its REALLY rough at idle. I think it just needs putting in the water and blasting, what do you guys think? What else should i check on it so i wont be dead in the water?
