Could someone recommend a good dealer or give some opinions on how well these motors are made? I need something that will go shallow, jump stumps, and take the abuse. My fishing is mainly set in shallow creeks and rivers in North Georgia and Alabama.

I am looking at advice for boats also. I know this is a lot to ask, but someone here should be able to help.

Thanks again for the advice!
Oshi

Oshi,
I've currently own an outboard jet. I've been around a lot of them. I've worked on many and set up a few.
How much do you want to spend?
How big a boat do you want?
Is jumping stumps going to be a habit?
What has been the extent of your research?

If you can get a bit more specific with your questions, we can get you dialed in. ;)

Re: yamaha jet drive??????

okay, I apologize for not being more specific.
I have rundown and written what I would like to own.
Jumping stumps will not be a habit, I would like to avoid them. I am looking at SeaArk or a G3 type aluminum all welded boat, around 14 to 16 foot.
Next, I would like to purchase a good used or new yamaha 60/40 jet drive outboard.
My load would be 2 people, trolling batter, trolling motor and gear.
What type of performance should I get? Is this a reliable set up?
I have seen boats running 90/60 Yamaha's on 17 to 18 foot aluminum boats that they have built the transom up... Can this be done?
I have also read articles and have done some research on where to mount the motor. It seems to me that the best or overall way to do this is to go with a hydraulic jackplace to set the motor where it needs to be. Thank you so much and If you would be willing to talk over the phone that would be great also. I know that the only place to get the jet foots is a custom made job in California.
As far as spending what would I be looking at spending for this?
40 yamaha 60 powerhead, 40 jetfoot
16 foot SeaArk or G3 boat
I have around 6 to 8 grand to spend.
I have search both Iboats and Boattrader for used ones and noone seems to want to sell or they are just that rare.
Please help!
Thanks again
Oshi

Neil,
The hydrolic jackplate would be a waste and wiegh more. Wieght will be your enemy with a small jetboat. A manuel jackplate would be more practical.
The boat as you describe, loaded, with an adult fishing partner would do OK. However, your looking at 28-30mph top speed/full power.
8-10 grand can get you something used.
A new 60/40jetdrive Yammi will set you back that much.

Send me your email address. I have all the info you could need. I'll send tons of pictures and links.

bachelor@stormnet.com
