I am looking to buy a new boat.. and may have found what I want. I made an offer on it and it was accepted, except for one stupid detail. When I looked that the boat, there was a promotion on from Yamaha which gave an extra 3 years of warranty. By the time I made the offer on the boat, that extended warranty offer ended.

The dealer offered to sell me the extra 3 years at his cost, but for 2 engines that is still a lot of money.

I told him to cancel my offer. I am going to check what is available from other manufacturers or perhaps wait until they start the next offer. Anyone know when yamaha is going to offer another incentive? You would think in this economy, they wouldn't try to trash sales?

Re: Yamaha incentives?

true.
I missed the opportunity.. but it is probably hurting the dealer way more than me. I still have a nice boat (which is now up for sale) so I am in no hurry.
This was an impulse buy. When I first saw the boat, I wasn't even thinking of buying something so big and expensive. It took a little time to grow on me.

Most likely Yamaha will start up another incentive in time for the Atlantic City Boat Show in a few weeks, or the show after that.. I can wait.
In the meantime, the dealer and yamaha have a boat and engine sitting in a lot losing value, costing interest, tying up a lot of capitol and taking up valuable space.

When the new incentives come out, I will make a lower offer on it, get the 6 years, and a better buy anyway.
