YES I'm the old fat guy in Minnesota that has "no boat no life".TRENT and KEN and all I took her in on Monday and found out yesterday that they didn't have but were trying to borrow the tools to reshim the bearing. Now they said they will have them on Monday so I should be ready for Labor Day????????? Good call KEN!!! It will be very interesting to see my bill at the end of it all. So I am going to be looking into the value of my "life" for trading in or sale next spring/summer. Of course if any body has a ballpark guess now I could be a little ahead of the game. 1993 Sierra with 1992 Yamaha L4 3.0 Litre 130 horse I/O and Yacht Club E-Z Lander trailer. THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!

Re: YAMAHA I/O PARTS

Still waiting to make my fortune Trent and buy me a plane. I still have a note to myself to get off my dead rear and get my medical and bi-annual. I wonder where they are going to get the tools from Bart? Not many of them things still laying around. Most of the dealerships made Yamaha buy them back when they quit building the units. I hope they are borrowing them cause you don't want to pay for them. Another problem is, even if they get the tools, they need the books from Yamaha to get the instructions. Then they need the corrections to the books that was sent to us in the mid 90's. Seems some of the numbers weren't correct. If they don't have the micro-fiche, then how are they going to know which shims to order. Too bad you're so far away. I've been giving some really good deals on repowers for the Yamaha's. Starting my own used Yamaha I/O part club.

Well KEN the good news just keeps on a-coming!!!!!!!!!!! They said the tools cost $200 so no sale!!!!!!!!! So my next move should be to notify them of these spec developments and see how much longer all this will take. Of course if I could convince a certain knowledgable Yammie man in Florida to pass on the specs for some type of compensation I would be even more likely to be on the lake on Labor Day. Ihad already planned to send a package of goodies for locating the bearing so upping the level of my gratitude is easy. Well get back to me and I will stop praying long enough to answer. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: YAMAHA I/O PARTS

Oysters, did someone mention oysters. Sorry, this month its scallops. Oysters aren't the best this time of year. As we all know Bart, Yamaha does things different from everyone else. I would need to check my book for those numbers when I get into the shop monday, but in order to work the formula, I have to have the numbers that are scribed in the housing under the top cover. Ya see, not all housing are created equal like other builders think theirs is. Yamaha measures the depth of cut on all units and scribes the code to use in the formula under the cover. The lower gear codes are scribed under the zinc above the prop. But anyway, giving the correct measurment is no problem. Seems you are paying these guys to learn on your unit. Ya want to adopt me and send me to school also? That unit must have gotten real low on oil to wipe that upper bearing out. I don't know how it got the driven bearing and didn't damage the bearing behind the drive gear. They also need to check the oil pump gear. Usually when these units get low, the oil pump can still suck oil from the lower unit and still keep the upper gears and bearing lubed. If the oil got low enough that the pump quit pumping, the oil pump gears may be damaged. Aren't I just full of good news.

I got your news here in my hand Trent. Eat your heart out, we're dragging the SeaRayer to Destin tomorrow and go cruising. Hear there's a floating bar in the bay and we out to find it. Tom's down with the King Air and it looks like we may do some traveling this week looking at 50 ft Vikings that's for sale down south. Hope you're not still pulling those 7 day weeks and if so, remember to keep your head down during those hot refueling jobs.

Iv been called alot of things but "funny" NNNaaa... Me and Ken go back. We talk on the phone and I go see him when I can so we rag each other for fun. Ken and I have met several people together from another board. He and his wife are really good people.....well his wife is anyway :)

Dont know what Ken has in stock but if a whole used lower is what you need I bet he might have one???? Where is Maple Lake? Yall make Maple
syrup? :)

Ken Im still doing the seven day a week thing. Iv hired a few guys.. But you have to teach them how to fuel them whirleebirds before you let them do it by themselves. Better come up and get that bi-annual soon. The insurance on the 172 just went up to $10,000. per year just for libility only (renter insurance). Guess we will be selling the old girl. Eight years ago we had seven rental aircraft. Fixin to be none. Guess I'll be down soon to help sweep up your shop?

Re: YAMAHA I/O PARTS

TRENT I have been getting a big kick out of the banter between ALL of the people who obviously know each other on this site. Maple Lake is on State hi-way 55 between ST. Cloud and Minneapolis in central Minnesota. The state that has TWO seasons....WINTER AND HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION!!!!!!!!! Hence my urgency. Anyway Ireally am appreciative and NEVER forget a favor and try to pay back as Equitably as possible. I am a chef and do catering as a sideline so edibles or recipes usually fill the bill but I'm not sure this can be covered that way. Again THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chef? You've hit both Trent's and my soft spot. Maple Lake, lets see, that's central time zone and I'm central time zone so where's the difference. As for another unit, nada!! Got one for a 4.3 but no 3.0 and would have to do some real searchin to find one. Now one customer is talking about repowering his 3.0 in the next couple of months, but that hasn't happened yet. As for that ragged out rental plane Trent, I might be interested. Of course that would mean I'd have to get back into flying and then I'd have to figure out where I would fly too. Couple of weeks ago the wife blurted out, just how much would a plane cost? Surprised the heck out of me being I haven't mentioned anything about a plane in a couple of years.

Re: YAMAHA I/O PARTS

E mail, TheCaptKen@aol.com. I wouldn't suggest spending much on repairs to this unit due to the fact that alot of the parts for the engine and outdrive are no longer available. The manifold and riser is no more and the only way you can get parts for the water pump is to buy the complete pump for better than $500. Those probably won't last much longer. All the replacement parts still available for the I/O's would probably fit in the back of a pickup truck. Just for information, if my memory is correct,I believe I priced a new repower with Mercruiser to the guy here with the 3.0 Yamaha for around $6500 and thats complete from prop to pullys. So you can see that it wouldn't take many high dollar repairs to the Yamaha to justify replacing.
