2003 yamaha 130 txrb.I recently was having some idiling and shifting issues that a friend of mine thought it was a good idea to mess around with the idle adjusting screw. As he did it I told him to stop and I will have someone look at it. When I got home I read my manual and it says to first loosen the throttle roller screw then adjust the idle screw which he didnt do. When I started my engine at the dock it started up and it was idiling really high and it was hard to shift the controller. The throttle felt like it was extremely tight to put into foward gear? When he adjusted that screw by not first loosing the throttle roller screw could that do any harm? I will try and loosen the throttle roller screw and adjust the idiling rpm to spec. What could've caused the hard shifting? Anything I could check out?remote controller shift cable length or throttle cable length? Thanks for the help guys

Shifting into gear at too high an rpm will cause excessive wear to your lower unit, and will make a loud clunk/slam... make sure your rpms are within the given manufactures range. It's like neutral bomb dropping a car when you put it in gear.
