How can it bog down and the RPMs go all the way up? does it stutter off the line then the RPMs jump up? give a little more info
Or do you mean the RPMs go all the way up but you move forward slowly? if thats the case check the impeller in the pump probably have a big bend in the blade leading edges. if it revs high but youre not going anywhere youre cavitating. could also be excessive pump to impeller clearances but its gotta be pretty extensive so i doubt its that. You can have the impeller refinished. I used to use Impros in riverside california. not sure if they still do it but I asume they do

could also be bad splines where the drive shaft goes in the coupler, but it is probably some trash stuck in the impeller, or something wrapped up in the drive shaft like a piece of plastic bag or rope.
