OK, I need your help. I need a fuel water separator / filter - I have a 1996 Galaxie with a Yamaha badged 5.7L - the filter has a number EG 340.? I ran a search did not find anything. Is there a replacement or source to go to? Thanks in advance.

Re: Yamaha Fuel Filter

take your old filter off.... drain it out the best ya can... and bring it to a NAPA autoparts store.... they will find you a comprable filter to fit. (has to be a napa.... those autozone places won't cut it)

Thanks - NAPA it is then. I did find filters from a couple sites that looked like spin-ons from Sierra and another source. Thanks again.

Its the same as the Mercruiser filter. There's not but two filters out there like that one. One is OMC with the big center hole and Mercury with the small hole.

Finally went to the NAPA store - they were unable to find the crossreference number. I've looked online at the Wix filters - several "look" like the one, but...

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Well, Ken, I read your input (lips) the first time - there's not a Merc, OMC, etc. dealer within 200 miles of my local. The NAPA lead did not pan out - I don't think I would have gotten far with "It's just like a Merc filter." advice.

Thanks Don - I'll just order the Sierra.

Ayuh,...

What should have happened at the Napa shoulda been,...
The parts Guy should have asked,.. Is that the Short Mercruiser fuel filter, or the Long Mercruiser filter....
Napa carries Both the Sierra line,+ the Napa/ Wix line....
I guess it don't say much for your parts Guy......

I agree with Bondo.... the guy you got behind the counter stinks.... which is a shame because Napa is known for having more educated guys behind the counter.

Long story short, I know Napa has Napa branded Wix fuel filters for Merc/OMC/Volvo... I have bought them before. If I can find the part numbers i'll post it.

Re: Yamaha Fuel Filter

Just as a follow-up,

First, thanks for the guiding input -

The Sierra Fuel Filter # is: 18-7844

The Wix Fuel Filter (labeled as a NAPA Gold) # is: 33225 - was $14 and was in stock.

Thanks again.
