Looking at purchasing 2006 Yamaha four stroke 8 horse motor. Just wondering if anyone on here has had experience with this motor? How reliable? Is it a quiet motor?
I don't know if the 2006 has changed from the 2003. I have the 2003 4 stroke high thrust and so far have had absolutely no problems. Runs very quietly with no vibration problems on my boat. Mine is a rope start and it start on the second pull of the rope. It also is very economical.
How heavy or what size boats are your Yamaha 8hp highthrust motors mounted on? Are you using it strictly for a kicker? What do you think about using it as a kicker on a fairly heavy 24ft. fiberglas boat with a v8 I/O? Hoping to buy the right motor the first time. Looking for a speed of about 5mph+ without having to run WOT. Computing hull speed is for people way smarter than me.
