Hi
I have a Yamaha f4a 4hp 1998 - which wont go into reverse.
The gear shift lever does not seem to move the shift rod sufficiently inside the lower unit to engage the gear.
It is possible to move the shift rod to engage the gear by hand using the tilt lock plate.
Forward gear and neutral are fine.
Should I be adjusting the shift rod in the lower unit or is the problem the gear lever itself - ie is the shift rod assembly likely to be worn?
Thanks for any help.
