Hello, I have a 2008 Yamaha F150 which has not had a working speedometer since I have owned it.
I have disconnected the hose at the fitting forward of the motor, and can get the speedo to work by blowing into it. The hole on the lower does not appear to be blocked, and when I blow into the other end of the hose, and plug the hole with my finger, I can still hear air blowing inside the unit. so, I think the hose must be disconnected inside, in or above the lower unit.
Can anyone tell me how to access this?
thanks!

Drop the lower unit just like you would to replace the impeller. On the forward end there should be a hose nipple with the speedo hose connected to it. It's item 12 in the parts diagram. I'll guess the hose and nipple aren't connected.

Item 12 - https://www.crowleymarine.com/yp/FU784676/lower-casing-drive-1-f150tlr-2008-150hp

It should look like;

Does the hose drop down with the lower, or is the hose attached to the other end of a fitting in the mid section ? Thanks

I don't know, but trying to connect the speedo hose, water pipe, drive shaft and shift shaft all at the same time could be tricky. Maybe one of our members is more familiar than I am.

While the lower unit is off, replace the impeller.

This is where a manual for the motor comes in handy. :)

if you look at the parts diagram Boscoe posted for you, you will see where the nipple is located and where the hose is routed thru the hole in front of the upper casing

Yes, I see that, but I am trying to find out how I access that. Do you know?
If so, please let me know. I’ve never had one apart. Thanks

have you looked at your motor to see if that hose is even there?

No I have not dropped the lower unit.
If I have to do that just to get to the Speedo hose, I’ll wait until the season is over.
From what I have seen, doing that is only going to show me the two nipple fittings between the lower and center section anyway, and is not going to show where the actual hose is connected to the upper nipple? That is why I keep asking if anyone knows how to access the hose in the center section, without tearing everything apart to do it?
If you know differently, please share what you know?

It looks like the lower nipple has an O ring in it, which makes me think there must be a female nipple in the upper section to accept it? Doesn’t seem like they’d have a hose going over a nipple with an o-ring..

Is a speedo worth all of the work it will take to fix it? You may as well replace the water pump if you're to remove the lower unit.

I don't think that I can.
