Re: Yamaha F115 Performance Tuning

There are forums that deal with racing outboard motors, might give them a look

This one you will only find someone saying he just added some air and got more HP, but we did not believe it

Why give up dependability for a few extra horsepower.

Then build up a two stroke Mercury and buy a CDI from CDI Industries with the rev limit removed. You can trick out a Mercury.

Boat/motor set-up, transom brackets, jack-plates, balance, etc. probably a better place to improve performance, assuming your F115....

Re: Yamaha F115 Performance Tuning

The F115 is a fine motor for a specific size of boat. They're very efficient, too. But they are not counterbalanced and simply don't have the guts or cubic inches to ever be a high horsepower motor.

When it comes to 4 strokes, you've just got to buy a motor that'll do the job you need it to.

Some motors can have the ECU programmed, but it's probably not a good use of $600 on a F115. If you had a Verado 225 hp motor, you could get it up to 310 horsepower with tuning.

Re: Yamaha F115 Performance Tuning

Firstly class is restricted to 1800cc / 115hp most are running Etec 115ho or 115 Pro Xs Optimax I am not a fan of either having mostly used Yamaha.
Motor is currently very close to 115ho Top Speed with much better acceleration but could do with running it closer to 6500rpm.
Boat is 19ft currently running 130 V4 at over 70mph
With F115 it will run around 60-61mph @ 6200 rpm (Yes I can fit a bigger prop but that will affect acceleration)

Thanks for your replies I will let you know how I get on !!

Hello. I need help to repair my outboard. It was submerged in saltwater. I need to replace the ECU witch in Europe cost about 2500 euros ($3000). In the US the ECU cost is about $900. The engine parts are all the same, including the sensors, but the ECU I have is the 68V-8591A-51 while in the US this part has the Part Number 68V-8591A-43. In the ********** they don't know if the ECU is compatible. I'm asking if anyone can send me a picture of an US ECU for the Yamaha F115 2006 and up.044.JPG the picture is the ECU of my outboard.
Thank you.
