Hello,
I have a question or two regarding my engine and maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in. First question, there was a TSB on this engine way back for the oil pump. I have read the TSB, but there is no markings on the flywheel cover to denote that the modification has been done. Should this still be covered under that TSB even if it is many years old?
Secondly, regarding the tilt and trim. The trim unit isn't leaking any oil, and is full of fluid. It also didn't bleed down over the course of two days being trimmed all the way up. So here is the problem: When placed in reverse and the engine isn't fully trimmed down, it wants to climb out of the water. If the engine is fully trimmed down until it stops, the unit locks into place. Is this normal behavior for a Yamaha trim unit, or is the manual release valve bad? I tried tightening it, but it was fully tight. I have owned boats before, but they have all been fine when in reverse regardless of trim position. If you go slow in reverse, it won't climb up.
Any help or explanation would be much appreciated, as this engine is otherwise problem free.
