My F100 has 470 hours of perfect performance. I have been using Ring Free since new. On Occasions at (Cold)start up it would smoke. Seems to be getting a little worse. Is this the nature of the beast or do we need to go to the hospital?

I discovered if I park mine in a position with the motor trimmed slightly Up this problem goes away. I checked all the usual things compression etc and this is what worked for me. Had the problem since new and now have 160 hours.

Re: Yamaha F100 smoking at startup

Hey Yamafan,
I have the same issue with my F100. I've had it for three seasons and it runs flawlessly except for 2 issues.
If I shut down after running it and then fire her up after a short time,It smokes...just a "puff of blue smoke". Reminds me of a 2 stroke.
The other issue is the oil level would tend to rise. Certified Yamaha Mech. told me that this would go away after I broke the motor in. He also said that I should disregard the factory recomendations on the break in and to run the heck out of it.
I did a compression test on it and all ranged from 150 to 165.
Like I said, she run great but I hate having this stuff knawing in the back of my mind.
Keep me up to date on anything you discover with your F100....I'll do the same on this end.
