Yamaha Digital Gauges

I have a Yamaha 150 OX66 and the speedometer stuck at 35MPH the time out before today. Today my speedometer just showed a - (dash) where the MPH is and no numbers. I backed up thinking that may clear something but the - (dash) was all that showed up. All other gauges worked on the display ie. hours, time, volts.

Does the speedometer work off a pick up tube or port in the lower unit that I can clean by blowing air or is the gauge broke?

Re: Yamaha Digital Gauges

I am surprised someone has not answered but I found the answer. Tilt the engine with it turned right or left depending on your choice and on the lower unit the part that is towards the transom just above the round part that the prop shaft is housed in, there is a 1/16 hole and that was plugged with wood or weed material. Take a 1/16 drill bit and by hand twist and the material should come out. You will probably have a small amount of water come out and the speedometer hole should be unplugged.
