Re: Yamaha controls on an Evinrude?
Good news and bad news. Evinrude uses a 5" throw and everybody else uses a 6" throw. That's bad news. But most controls nowadays are adaptable for either. That's good news. But there's more bad news. Yamaha motor ends are of a Universal type and Evinrude's are not. But there's more good news. You can get adpater kits. Now I have to rain on your parade once again. The wiring harnesses are completely different, color codes and all. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. They do the same things, you just have to figure out which wire does what and splice accordingly.
