Can a Yamaha 90 be modified by changing the jets to perform as a 115? Someone told me this but I am fairly ignorant about outboards. Just thought one of you out there would probably know.

Re: yamaha 90

No, Barry, it can't.

The 90 is a in-line 70 cubic inch 3 cylinder engine. It is jetted for best mix at sea level at 25 degrees C. For a particular situation small changes in jets might improve performance and fuel usage a small bit

The 115 is a V4 of much greater displacement (105.5 cu. in.). Even if the jets would fit your carbs all you would get is a bad running engine, if it ran at all.

These myths about changing jets to hop up an engine persist. Don't believe them.

Good luck. :)
