Hi, I have a friend with a 1986 Yamaha 90. He gets it serviced every year or two and it only does 20 to 50 hours per year. The last service it had water in the carbs, he has used it once and same thing again. The tanks are plastic and portable, not underfloor. His mechanic is going to take the carbs off again and clean them. The tanks were cleaned at the service so I would be pretty sure its just water. Does condensation get into the tanks? I have never had a problem on my motor (Mercury) after 7 years, all I do is drain the carbs and clean the tanks, although I do rinse them out with meths from time to time.
Are Yamahas more prone to water in the gas?
My advice to him was to drain the carbs and try it.
