Any suggestions where to start. 9.9 Yamaha (2000). It runs great and never any problems until now. During my last sail I was pulling into marina/slip and running at idle speed as usual. The motor shuts down as if it ran out of gas. When I got it into slip I immediately cranked it back up and it ran fine.
This past weekend I sailed again and at least a dozen times I would lower the throttle to idle speed and no problems until I pulled into the slip on my last trip out. It died again at idle speed. It fired right back up after I got it in the slip and it ran fine.
Pulling into a slip is not the best time for the motor to shut down.
What would cause an intermittent problem of shutting down at idle speed?
Thanks.
