1985 Yamaha 9.9sk that's new to me. Motor had been sitting for a couple years before I got it. I blew out all the lines and added fresh fuel and she started up but wouldn't idle, cleaned the carb and she was purring like a kitten. About 100 yards into our first outing she died and wouldn't restart. After checking fuel and air I determined it wasn't getting any fire. Stator its putting out voltage, ignition is putting out voltage, but nothing from the coil. I bought a used coil and after installing it started once and ran for 3-5 secs and died, now no spark. How do I check the coil to tell if it's bad? It seems odd that both these coils would have failed, is there something else that could be causing my issue? If the coils are bad what could be causing it?
