Yamaha 8hp carb float adjustment question...

got a 1997 Yamaha 8hp 2-stroke. I'm having issues with it flooding after it runs for less than a minute. I've narrowed the problem to the carb. Put a different carb on it and it runs great. What is the correct float level setting?

I honestly can't say for certain for your carb. BUT, the typical float setting in most carbs is level with the fuel bowl opening. I have rebuilt many carbs in my life time and I haven't seen one that didn't set with it being level with the fuel bowl opening edge yet! Take the carb and turn it upside down and set the float level with the bowl edge opening. Also make sure your needle AND seat are new when rebuilding the carb. JMHO!

Thank you, it worked. Whoever rebuilt this carb before I got it never set the float right.
