Yamaha 800gp 1998 jetski

Anyone with a suggestion I would greatly appreciate it...It wont start...no power to the dash....it will only start when you jump the starter cylinoid....is it a main board? Bad brain?

Have you checked any fuses it might have? Have you confirmed that your start/stop switch works? Have you confirmed that when you push it, 12volts gets to the selenoid? It might be as simple as a faulty solenoid.

Thank you for your reply....Yes we have checked all of those things you suggested...any other thoughts?

wierd electrical things are tough to diagnose, especially over the internet and not seeing the ski.

First thing I'd suggest is cleaning any ground wires and the main power wires that you mgiht have and see if that does anything. From there, unplug any wire harnesses and clean them...possibly a corroded connection somewhere. If that doesn't work, you're going to have to start testing wires to look for a break somewhere.

Thank you.....My husband says also that it will start if you "jump" the cylanoid

If it isn't the selenoid, I'd test the start/stop switch and go from there.

Stupid question, but have you entered the security code?? I am assuming the 800 has the security code.

If you have not set one, press the mode key and the when it asks for the code press AAAA and it then say start or locked..

Just a thought.
