Yamaha 8 HP 4 stroke oil collection in cowling, housing

Hi all, I'm excited to join this site and forum and maybe get the answer I need.

I've had a frustrating 2 years dealing with insurance and a lazy brother after we capsized our fishing boat June 2023.

8 Hp Yamaha above was saved and flushed , some wiring changed on electric remote panel and after a year it finally ran again.

After 8 to 10 outings it failed on the water and upon inspection gas was leaking / gushing out of carb. After discovering this and no immediate replacement available I got lucky with a disassembly, cleaning and reassembly.

After several more outings a friend noticed oil leaking at the ramp after latest outing. We hadn't hit anything so I started searching the web. No real results answering my question.

I've included pictures but basically oil level was almost zero, oil collecting inside of cowling/housing and nothing obvious visible.

Any and all opinions, theories, suggestions welcomed.

clean up the motor,
put oil back in, run it, and look for where the oil is coming out at

They make dyes that can be added to the oil to help make leaks more visible.

Check its not coming out the crankcase breather , and that oil level is correct , measure the amount of oil recommended rather than rely on dipstick .
