I have a 2011 etec 115hp motor and it's tilted up and would not come down unless. If you do not touch the tilt/trim buttons on the handle, you hear a buzzing sound from the tilt motor on the back, so the motor is being tilted upward. If you hold the trim button to make the motor go down, you can see the motor move 1/2 or less of an inch down, but goes back up when you let go to the trim button, like if the tilt/up button is stuck.
However I was told to check the "trim limit cam". This plastic u-shape broke, but there is a black button right in front which the trim limit cam presses to stop the motor from going upward. I had to have someone hold the trim button on the handle while I pressed the button on the motor which stops the tilt, and the motor would come down, but you have to keep the trim button presses down because if you let go of the handle, the motor goes back up, again, like if the tilt button is stuck. I'm not sure if its the Yamaha 704 whole handle, the limit tilt cam or what? There is current otherwise the motor wouldn't move up nor down. It's a brand new boat and were hitting a few choppy waves when the motor was all of a sudden, upward, out of the water and got stranded. Any suggestions so I can fix it myself.
