Yamaha 70

As a new individual to the boating scene I am looking at buying a used Yamaha 70BETO outboard. Problem is I am not sure that I am being given a straight deal here as the seller is claiming that the offered Yammie is a 92 model. I'm not real sure that it is. Is there some way to detremine the manufacture date from the serial No. at all? The serial No is 6H3 L 429420. Any help would be appreciated <br /><br />

<br />Look at this picture. There is a letter at the red arrow. Lower left or lower right. It can be very hard to read.<br />If it really is a 1992 there is a letter "B".<br /><br />Find all letters for all years here:<br /> http://www.marinshopen.se/guide/yamguide.htm# <br /><br />6H3 1983- 70B. Starting in 1983. Don't know for how long.
