I just returned to shore from fishing and used the power tilt to put up the motor and then shut it down. There appears to be no electricity in the engine past the starter motor. By this I mean there is 12 V at the starter, but the power tilt will not work from the dash or from the motor, also the engine lights will not come on and the selinoid will not click. HELP!

Re: yamaha 70 no electrical power in motor

Start simple. Is the batt. connected? Is there power to the solenoid? Is there power on the other side of the solenoid (careful... yes, it tingles a bit)? Is there power to the starter? Next: Is the wiring harness (black cable from control box to engine, about 1 inch thick) conected to the engine? Sometimes they pull apart. When you separate them, are any pins green? if they are, clean them up with electronics cleaner and an emory cloth and re-attach. That should be a start...
