is it possible that my wife could overfill the oil tank and cause the alarm to sound after the motor has run for a few mins........i just bought this boat it ran fine before hand..........my wife deicded to fill the oil tank with oil before we started it? thats only thing we did.....the water was very cold and motor took awhile to warm up.....also the gauge has a green light that shows oil that stays on all the time when motor is running?I know the alarm is serious and do not wish to damage engine....I am very new at this so please keep it simple lol....the motor is on a 71 stardust house boat........we were just ideling at the dock starting the motor and such......we shut the motor off after the alarm went off......but it alarmed twice..............also our Batteries were extremely low due to my onboard charger going out...........thanks all help needed and appreciated

sam444,

Do not try any diagnostics until your batteries are up to charge.

Low voltage reveals many gremlins not normally seen.

Also check the connections at the battery. Loose connectors on a Yammie will cause the horn to go off.

If the resevoir has a float type sensor in it, I'd check that out. Maybe when she filled it, it decided to stick, causing a False low oil warning. Just a thought.
