I just inherited a Yamaha 40hp outboard. I believe the year model is an 86 or 87. The boat and engine was stored about 6 years ago with stabil in it. I cannot get any power to the engine or trim. I have checked the wiring all the way to the motor. Where should I go from here. When I took the cover off, I noticed that the oil had leaked out of the resevoir as well. Could this be a bad gasket or seal?And last what else should I do to ensure this engine runs properly after being stored. I am not a boat mechanic but am familiar with outer engines. Maybe with help I can fix this without huge labor charges if its worth fixing.
