Yamaha 40HE Stalling

Hi all I have a Yamaha 40HE L On my 13' Boston Whaler the engine has been good to me for ages but the other day after not using it for a while and heavy rain i had just taken her out and as i slowed down she started misfiring on 1 cylinder -Dont know which so i stopped her and started her again and she sqeaked and stalled tried again and she ran fine she is out the water and on dry land now. Some help ould be appreciated !!

sounds like a lean condition.<br />do a compression/spark test and check your filters. then do a link and sync to rule out misadjustment, if it doesnt run snmooth after this and the compression and spark are good, pull your carbs for a cleaning, visually check your reeds while the carbs are off.

You never said what your compression check showed. I think before messing with your carberator you should make that clear first. I could add more but because you did not disclose the compression test there is no sense in me saying anymore. email me if you need assistants and i may can help.

dude usually poor running after a rain means water in the fuel. check it carefully. 6 gallon tanks with gas gauges love to leak.<br /> drain the carbs and look carefully for water.<br /> compression test is a good start as well.<br />good luck and keep posting

Yea i expect it was on the news in the USA cos it was international there was major flododing in Cornwall us down in Truro didnt get hit too bad but it was torrential and quite a few people died in the flood but there could have been water in the fuel but i was using the original Yamaha Metal tank so I would be quite surprised if it was. Could anybody tell me waht year the engine is cos ive looked everywhere i cant find it the plate says "40 HE" "6H4" "L" "354131" Thanks
